Case 4
- You feel like they are being too pushy. You decide to test them so you ask them why they don’t ask their sister Victoria to send it (they don’t really have a sister)
- They keep pushing, saying they need you to send it and to please hurry because they need help now
- Now you’re almost certain it’s a scam so you stop replying and don’t send the money.
- A few minutes later, your friend posts on social media from home. You message them and they have NO idea what you’re talking about. It turns out they were never stuck!
- 🎉 You made a safer choice! Not letting yourself be rushed into action is a responsible thing to do.
- 🤔 Lesson: Scammers might try to rush you because they don’t want you to think. If someone is really your friend, they would probably be confused by you asking about a sister they don’t have. If somebody is rushing you and NOT engaging with your messages, that could be a 🚨 red flag. Scammers don’t care about real details – they JUST want money.
Next step: what do you do now?
