Case 4
- You feel uncertain about whether it is really your friend, so you decide to ask them some questions that your friend would know the answer to. The reply saying that they don’t remember right now, but can you send the money fast?
- Now you’re almost certain it’s a scam, so you stop replying and don’t send the money.
- A few minutes later, your friend posts on social media from home. You message them and they have NO idea what you’re talking about. It turns out they were never stuck!
- 🎉 You made a safer choice! Asking questions to check somebody is who they say they are is a responsible thing to do.
- 🤔 Lesson: Scammers might try to rush you because they don’t want you to think. If someone is really your friend, they probably won’t avoid answering personal questions. If they don’t, that can be a 🚨 red flag.
Next step: what do you do now?
